The French TV channel ARTE has commanded a series of 11 films for the first historical retrospective on Edward Hopper in Paris at Le Grand Palais in the fall 2012 (The equivalent of the MET in NY).
Each film is inspired by an Edward Hopper painting. ARTE will release the film on TV & in theaters in Paris, hopefully at the MoMA as well. The directors attached are Sophie Barthes, Paolo Roversi, Valérie Mréjen, Mathieu Amalric, Dominique Blanc, Valérie Pirson (Animation works with Michel Gondry), Angela Schanelec (German), Martin de Thurah (Danish), Viktor Antonov (Animation), Sophie Fiennes and Hal Hartley.
We had the pleasure of recreating physical worlds/sets for the Edward Hopper paintings, The Morning Sun and Nighthawks for director Sophie Barthes (Cold Souls), cinematographer Andrij Parekh (Blue Valentine, Half-Nelson) and starring Michael Stuhlbarg (Serious Man, Boardwalk Empire). Congrats to a great team!
